INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY – 8 WEEK SHORT COURSE

Want your GCSE in Maths or Biology but don’t want to sit in a class?

We can now offer GCSE Maths or Biology as a home-study package which would give you everything you need to study the course at home. All you need is the recommended text book and an email address! Full e-tutor support throughout. You would take the exam in May/June at our centre in Workington.

The package (per course) is only £199 with an additional £50 to pay for the exam nearer the time (usual exam cost £89.99). Contact us to sign up.

GCSE Mathematics

  • 30 sessions
  • Mondays 6-9pm.
  • Course fee: £350 Exam: £50 (payable at a later date)
  • Concessions: £100 discount if studying both our maths and English courses (£600 for both). 14-16 year olds who are home educated can receive funding to take the higher tier.

This course will give you the opportunity to gain a GCSE qualification in maths. You will be following the new Pearson Edexcel GCSE 9-1 specification (Foundation Tier) in class. The Higher Tier will be available but this will involve extra independent study at home. Work outside of the classroom will be necessary in all cases.

  • Course fee: £350. Exam: £50 (payable at a later date)
  • Concessions: £100 discount if studying both our maths and English courses (£600 for both). 14-16 year olds who are home educated can receive funding to take the higher tier.

This course will give you the opportunity to gain your required GCSE qualification in English. You will be following a single examination specification where Grades 9 – 1 will be achievable. The specification is intended to be followed over two years so independent study will be required outside of the classroom to ensure everything is covered.

iGCSE Biology

Dates: Wednesdays from 6th September 2017 – 9th May 2018 (excluding school holidays)

  • 33 weeks (with some weeks off to account for holidays)
  • Wednesdays 6-9pm
  • Cost: £399
  • Exam: £50 (payable at a later date)

iGCSE Biology is accepted as a science qualification for Sellafield Ltd. Grades A* – G will be available (C being required for Sellafield). The course will be for an International GCSE (iGCSE), which involves no coursework or practical laboratory activities, so will be easier to follow in 22 sessions. However, work at home will also be necessary to ensure that the specification is completely covered. iGCSEs have exactly the same standing and recognition as GCSEs, and are now being offered in many schools.

If you study psychology you’ll be able to develop your analytical and organisational skills and learn about scientific research methods, including collecting and working with data.

Learning about human behaviour can also help to build your communication skills and improve your teamwork and leadership skills.

Psychology is useful for any job that requires lots of interaction or an understanding of human behaviour and development. People with skills in psychology are sought after in business, management, teaching, research, social work and careers in medicine and healthcare.
